Hello everyone! Happy Valentine’s Day !
As I missed writing a post in relation to this occasion I thought it will be a good idea to see some common mistakes which even celebrities made with their makeup and maybe learn from them.
Makeup industry now has become huge and there are more and more people interested in makeup, however not everyone has the skill. Here are some things that should be considered in the first place for having perfectly applied natural looking makeup and not only natural but also enhancing your beauty.
1.Foundation that doesn’t match with our skin-tone

Fondation is one of the key components for the good base of makeup. It is very important that you choose the right shade, undertone and colour. Usually If you are not sure for the right colour I always recommend being matched by professional makeup artist or by the assistant in the shop that you are in.
2. Lighter concealer

Same as fondation, the concealer is also a big part of the base of your makeup and choosing the right shade is essential. Under-eye concealers are usually used for concealing dark circles, puffiness and for the “contouring” trend, which requires brightening concealers under the eye area and for those areas which are naturally hit by light. However using over-brightening shade of concealer may even enhance under-eye problems, which we are trying to conceal and for sure it does not look natural in any way.
I recommend concealing the dark circles with peach-tonned concealer and then going on top with concealer which contains reflecting particles for brightened and natural look.
3. Not blended fondation

Now as you know blending is a huge part of makeup, either for the base of the makeup or for eye makeup. Foundation and concealer are two of the most important products for good base but the most important is well blended makeup. Usually in the morning when we are in rush for school or work, we try to slap on the makeup as quickly as possible often in a place with not good lighting and we forget to blend our base towards the neck, years and the hairline.
Especially funny looks, girls that tan their bodies and leave their faces the natural colour and then just use darker foundation. When they forget to blend their foundation looks something like our loved Christina right here. (Nothing personal Tina, we all love you). The other way around is when girls choose way darker foundation than they need to and don’t blend it as well, in this case we have what is called the mask effect. There are dark lines of foundation around the jaw line and hairline and it is really noticeable that the foundation is not the right colour.
My recommendation is no matter how much you are rushing, give your time on blending and try to not forget any part.
4. Too much colour

It is always good to use and mix different colours, but it is always good to have an accent and to choose only one. For example, you could prefer the accent to be on lips, eyes or skin. That is why, for example most makeup artist pair a nude lip with really bold eye makeup look or bold red lips with really simple eye makeup look. You always have to have some balance.
5. Too much eyelashes

We all know the trending of big luscious lashes, especially when lash extensions came out. And admit it we girls love big lashes, and most of the makeup artist are using fake lashes even in the daytime now. That is completely good when fake lashes are applied correctly and in the right amount.
For this case I would recommend using individual eyelashes as it is easier to personalise and build up as much as you want. They could be very natural looking if applied correctly. For application I would say that applying as close to the natural lash line as possible is the key. Also when it comes to glue, the less the better. You don’t want having chunks of dried glue over your lid when you close your eyes, do you?
6. Too much blush

The blush is very tricky makeup product. You can make yourself look very young, bright-skinned, nice tanned or you can make yourself look 20 years older. Again it all comes down to blending, choosing the right colour and shade. Different types of face shapes would require the blush to be put on different part of the cheeks, however you should never apply more than you need. When it comes to blush the less the better and keep on blending girls!
7. Not blended eyeshadow

It all comes down to blending again. No matter what look you are trying to achieve, everything looks a lot more professional and done when is blended and the colours melt into each other rather than having hush lines all over.
For achieving this I always recommend having a clean blending brush by your side when you are doing your makeup and not forgetting to use it every single time!
8. Melting lipstick

Bright lip colours is also a trend that has been used a lot from makeup gurus, however wearing bright lips is not that easy. We all have had these situations where our lipstick just melts off and we are thinking:” What the hell is happening?” and we are trying to fix all this.
For having your lipstick stay where it is supposed to stay i recommend:
- Avoiding oily lipstick formulas
- Always contouring your lips with a lipliner
- Using matte lipstick or matte liquid lipstick
Matte liquid lipstick are very popular and trending at the moment. A lot of brands are having “liquid lipstick battles” in order to achieve the best formula and I don’t even know if there’s a person on this planet who hasn’t tried liquid lipsticks but if you are still not definitely try it ( I would like to hear your favourite matte lipstick brand, guys ).
9. Not the right eyeliner

There was a trend about grunge makeup, usually used in fall with very brown-ish, dark, burgundy colours which if not used correctly may end up making you look 10 times older. Using a brown coppery, orange colours blended around the eye have the tendency to make you look very tired and even add few years on top. For this I would recommend consulting with a professional and finding the right colour for your eye colour and skin-tone.
10. Too much of a cat-eye

Eyeliner is one of the hardest thing in makeup and even most professional makeup artist hate doing it. It is a game of luck every time. We all had that situation where we are trying to do our makeup and we end up looking like pandas because we tried to correct our eyeliner 50 times. I know the struggle and i even stopped doing eyeliner for a period of time because I was tired of correcting my eyeliner.
First rule that I recommend is following the natural shape of the eye and extending the eyeliner towards the end of the brow. This is considered to be the way that creates most natural looking eyeliner.
Second is about choosing the type of eyeliner either gel, liquid or pen type. If you are beginner probably the pen type would be easier if you are not try everything and see which type is most easier for you.
These were my 10 solutions for ten mistakes in makeup. I hope you learned something new and I hope I have helped you all by writing this.
Love,
Elysè
