Perfect present for february

We all set our new years resolutions when the new year is right around the corner, but they are quickly forgotten when February steps in and brings its loving character.

Yes, we are talking about that time of the year, the time when Valentine’s Day magically comes along and makes us feel all the happiness and love in the world. Especially for people like me who are also born in February and combine the two beautiful occasions in order to have the time of our lives. In my opinion it doesn’t matter if you are single or in a relationship during that time of the year and I definitely don’t think there is a reason for  people to get a Valentine’s Day Depression. So girls and boys don’t hesitate to celebrate every occasion of happiness and love with friends and family. Life is all about loving someone, no matter who.

However with every occasion comes with the wondering of presents, suprises and all that jazz, which most of the people hate.  If you are like me, then you  know that I am the worst person when it comes to showing your feelings and love to someone. So I feel ya!

As the years pass by, I understand that I don’t need a lot of fancy presents (don’t get me wrong every woman needs her treats), but a loving experience with the ones I love. And what a better occasion than 14th of February to do that, and what better place than Italy, especially the city of love – Verona.

Yes girls, I was blessed with a travel experience to Italy as a present for the month of February, both for Valentine’s day and my birthday.

This is a shortcut to the city of Verona and Venice.

From the moment we landed, I could easily feel that there was something special about this place. The small, but welcoming airport easily managed to put me in a good mood and by the time we arrived at the hotel I was already falling in love with that marvellous place.

The hotel’s modern minimalistic look in black and silver and the smiling welcoming staff made my late night arrival absolutely fantastic. After getting something to eat we rushed to bed to get some sleep as it was already midnight.

The next day started with a beautiful Italian breakfast full of delicious food, fruits, different types of cheese and of course the beautifully smelling coffee. We enjoyed our delightful breakfast and rushed to explore the city. Our hotel was just in the centre of the city so it wasn’t that hard to get on one of the famous streets for shopping containing amazing high end shops. FullSizeRender 21.jpg

And this is how it looks, in all its beautifulness – Via Mazzini. We also made sure to explore every single one of  Verona’s tiny streets in order to properly enjoy the breathtaking Italian architecture.

After exploring the shopping streets we quickened to explore  two of the signature attractions.

The most obvious one is Arena di Verona, built in the first century. It is still in use today and is internationally famous for the large-scale opera performances given there. It is one of the best preserved ancient structures of its kind. In ancient times, nearly 30,000 people was the housing capacity of the Arena. Nowadays, for security reasons, the maximum attendance is 15,000 people.fullsizerender-22

While exploring the city it was time for delicious treats like Italian gelato, which I can stress enough about how amazing tasted served in form of flower ..

The second signature of Verona is the castle – Castelvecchio. Unfortunately taking pictures inside of the museum was forbidden, but if you are in Verona don’t miss the opportunity of visiting.

The reason why Verona is called the city of love is because the story of Romeo and Juliet happened right here in this city. Of course I couldn’t resist visiting the Balcony of Juliet which everybody seemed to enjoy very much including myself.

And of course after a long day of exploring I needed to try the famous Italian Lasagna which I couldn’t resist with wine.

This is in a beautiful restaurant called Te-Ta de Julieta, it was a typically small Italian restaurant with modern interior and excptional cuisine.

That is  how my first day in Italy ended.

The next day started again with the delicious breakfast and strong Cappuccino. After  breakfast we headed to a different destination – Venice. The city of water taxis. Just kidding you have all heard about Venice, but you actually believe it when you see it with your eyes.

When we arrived in Venice, we walked trought the even smaller streets trying out roasted chestnuts (really yummy) . After looking around we decided to finally go to the famous square of Venice called Piazza San Marco and it looked better than I expected it to…FullSizeRender 8.jpg

There was an exceptional cafè in front of the castle where Casanova himself sat to drink a coffee right after he escaped from prison. It was really amazing to be right there and to know this is history from centuries ago.

However we couldn’t miss going into the Doge’s Palace and exploring the life of princesses and kings (which we all could enjoy, don’t lie you don’t want to) and seeing the amazing interior and ceilings painted by hand.

Of course while you’re in Venice you have to see the Grande Canale and even get on a gondola if you are not bad with boats.

Looking like  luxury water carriages, these gondolas are taking you back in the early years of 18th and 19th century.

Of course these are not all the places that I visited in Italy, but these are the most signature ones.

Italy is one of the places that makes you feel exceptional in its own way. I actually didn’t expect much but I was nicely surprised. At the time I couldn’t even process how lucky I was to be able to see the places that I only dreamt of visiting.

Hope you also get to travel, as this is the best investment you could possibly make.

Love,

Elysè
